REPLICA - T.SHIRT // JUNE 28th 2-5pm CST

Do you have a T-SHIRT you own that you love and would like to make multiples of it?  This workshop will walk step-by-step through the pattern making process of a Jersey/Stretch T-SHIRT and the making of the fabric version of that T-SHIRT from paper pattern cutting to completion. Students will receive a Paper Pattern-Making Worksheet (PDF) the night before class to help during this workshop that will take place on ZOOM. The workshop will be recorded and students will receive a link to the video after the workshop. After you register for this workshop you will receive an email with supplies and June 27th you will receive and email invitation to join the ZOOM workshop including a password.

SUPPLIES for making the PATTERN:

-Jersey T-SHIRT (should be simple in design – if you have questions about the shape please  email hadleyanneclark@gmail.com)

-Piece of paper larger then the front of the shirt, the back of the shirt and the sleeves-this paper needs to be larger think about adding 5” to all sides of the shirt (this could be paper grocery bags taped together, copy paper taped together. Many of my first patterns out of fashion school were made from big magazine pages taped together. This is part of the resourcefulness we are accessing).

-tracing wheel – very important tool for this project

-a mat to place under the paper when using the tracing wheel is very helpful!

-ruler (I will be using a clear one with metric or standard measurements that is used for pattern-making that is 24" long).

-Traditional French Curve or Curved Drafting Ruler

-Measuring Tape

-Magic Tape a.k.a. Scotch Tape (very important supply for pattern making

-pencil and eraser

-paper scissors or rotary and mat

-weights for keeping the T-SHIRT in place as we trace it

SUPPLIES for SEWING the Jersey T-SHIRT:

-Jersey / Stretch textile - enough to replicate the T-SHIRT including neck band - neckbands and the like can be purchased as well. I prefer to be creative and create my own as I am usually using remnant fabric and want the color and texture to be the same.

-Sewing Machine with zig-zag stitch OR a Serger / Overlock machine.  A serger is ideal for making T-SHIRTS at home.

-Fabric scissors and sewing machine or serger thread

-pins for laying out pattern onto textile
